2015 NWC Boys Soccer All-Conference Teams

boys_soccer_150Bluffton senior Tucker Routson was voted the 2015 Northwest Conference “Player of The Year” in a vote at a meeting of conference boys’ soccer coaches held in Delphos. Austin Leeth, a senior from Lincolnview, finished second in the balloting. Steve Smucker of Bluffton was selected as “Coach of the Year” in the balloting. This was the initial year for boys’ soccer as a conference sport in the Northwest Conference.

Woods had also earned first team honors as a freshman in last year’s balloting. Kevin King of Bluffton was voted NWC Coach of the Year by his peers. Ada and Paulding finished the year as co-champs in the league with identical 7-1 records in league play.

2015 NWC Cross Country Championships

crosscountry_150Lincolnview swept the team championships in the Northwest Conference cross country meet run Saturday morning in Van Wert. Columbus Grove finished second in both races with Crestview finishing third. Lincolnview’s teams also won in both the boys’ and girls’ junior high races.

Bluffton’s Jacob Barnett ran the best individual time of 17:00 in winning the boys’ race and was voted by the coaches as NWC Male Runner of the Year. Boone Brubaker (CG; 17:04) finished second with Austin Elick (LV, 17:12) completing the race as the third place finisher.

Columbus Grove’s Taylor Ellerbrock defended her crown in the girls’ race with a winning time of 19:46, and was voted NWC Female Runner of the Year. Bluffton’s Elizabeth Nisly (19:53) was runner-up for the second year in a row with Anna Gorman (20:21) of Lincolnview following in third place.

Lincolnview’s Matt Langdon was voted by the coaches as both the Boys’ Coach of the Year and the Girls’ Coach of the Year.
